What The Interviewer Is Looking For

In most interviews, knowing what the interviewer is looking for means you have won half of the battle. The other half of the battle: be prepared to show your knowledge about the organisation, ask tactful questions about the job, and give a good impression that you can do better than others, if you are offered the job.
The interviewer has two methods of judging your suitability for the job. First, by questioning you and evaluating the things about you and your experience, based on what you tell him. Second, by observing person-to-person how you handle the interview.

PLEASE CLICK THE ADVERTISEMENTS IF THIS BLOG IS HELPFUL FOR YOU

If you have obviously planned your interview well, for example by showing that you are knowledgeable about the organisation, the interviewer will assume that you are also capable of planning and making a good job of your tasks. The converse is also true – a bad performance at interview could mean an unsatisfactory performance at the job.
If you have the experience and ability to do the job, make sure that you do not let your interview performance let you down. Since in most cases, the interviewer has no prior knowledge of the candidates except their letter of application, the first impression you give is extremely important. If you are of average intelligence or have few qualifications, do not despair. The most important factor is your actual achievements and the positive way in which you put these over to the interviewer.
Here are five areas that help the interviewer select the right person for the right job: intelligence, qualification, adjustment, impact on others, motivation and achievements.
Intelligence means your cognitive powers to take in and interpret information. You should be quick in understanding all questions posed by the interviewer, and providing simple and concise answers to them. Nevertheless, a person who is too intelligent, by giving complicated answers to simple questions, may give an impression that he is a thinker not a doer.
Qualifications is necessary for certain professional jobs. So make sure you possess the formal qualifications required or the experience needed when applying for that particular position. It is important to show your knowledge and interest of the relevant professional institution in your field of work, as this will also reflect your enthusiasm towards the profession.

Be patient- wait for the right opportunity

As per technical analysis, the Nifty is in 'don't buy' zone. All the individual stocks are showing don't buy indication. It will take a few days of continuous positive closing for our markets to indicate a buying signal. Currently, there is no opportunity to buy for short term. Lets wait for the right opportunity to buy.

In a year, on an average, there is only about one short term buying opportunity per month. Out of these 10-12 buying opportunities in a year, only 4-6 trades will give us 10% profits. In the remaining chances, we may not make any loss, but we may not get significant profits. Hence, patiently waiting for the short term opportunities is important.
Long term investors should carry on with their monthly investments. Please note that for long term purchases, no stop loss needs to be set. Continue to buy on a monthly basis for long term. Also, do not judge the performance of your long term portfolio before 3-4 years. There is no use of assessing a long term investment within a few days or months. Give time for your stocks to show their true performance. Do not become impatient with a few months of declining prices.

We have to see the Asian cues on Monday to see how our markets may move.

Nifty ended about 46 points down on Friday.
The Global cues were mixed on Friday's trading session. The US markets were negative but the European markets were positive.

Investing with a plan

Be clear when you are buying a particular stock whether you would like to buy it for short term or long term. If it is for short term, sell the moment you achieve your target selling price (for example a 10% profit on the trade).
There is no need to place stop losses for long term buys. Stop loss is only meant for limiting loss for short term trades. Have the discipline to sell at the stop loss level. Do not be emotionally attached to a stock bought for short term.
It is advisable to perform long term investing in one demat account and short term trading in another demat account. Alternatively, you can invest for long term in your spouse’s name and short term trading in your name. This ensures that the income tax authorities do not classify you as a trader and levy higher rate of taxes.

The reason why many investors are not successful is because they do not have an investment plan. Investors must decide beforehand whether they will be investing for long term, or both long and short term.
If you have decided to invest for long term and have picked fundamentally strong stocks, then you must not worry about short term fluctuations in the market.Make it a policy to buy and hold only bluechip stocks. Do not try to speculate with other riskier stocks.

It is not wise to only trade for short term. If you would like to do short term trading, then you must also make long term investments.

If you decide to allocate 20% of your total assets in the stock markets, then you can allocate 15%-20% in long term or decide to invest 15% for long term and another 5% for short term trades. Please remember that short term trades are comparatively more risky and you must be ready to incur limited losses.
Intra-day trading is not recommended. General experience of people is that they profit in some trades and lose in the other trades and the net effect is that they seem to lose more than they gain. The stress undertaken for intra-day trading is far more than the benefits received from it.

Jar Philosophy of Life

Jar 1: Long term investment – 10% - This Jar must contain money that should be invested for long term such as for ‘legacy’ which is not to be touched during your life time.
Jar 2: Necessities – 55% of your income – This Jar must contain money which you require to spend on necessities of life such as food, clothing, rent, travel expenses etc.
Jar 3: Personal Education – 10% - This Jar must contain money for your personal education such as attending Training programs, learning new skills, undertaking higher education etc. so that we can enhance our income in the future.
Jar 4: Emergencies – 10% - This Jar must contain money set aside for emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
Jar 5: Children Education – 10% - This Jar must contain money meant for your children’s education. Allocate this money for good quality education, higher education, foreign education etc.
Jar 6: Charity – 5% - This Jar must contain money for donations and charity to less privileged people. We must always set aside money for the needy and deserving poor. Example: Donations for education, clothes for poor children, contribution to old-age homes etc.
By dividing your monthly income in the above Jars, we will be allocating our money in a much more meaningful and organized way.

Spectacular rise in the Nifty today, ending more than 100 points higher. This was expected as the global cues were extremely positive last night in Europe and US markets.
Currently, the global cues are mildly negative. The US and European markets are down by 0.5-1%.

Today's rise in the Nifty has resulted in it entering the 'buy' zone. However, it is too early to say whether this is the start of a rally or not. A few stocks have entered the buy zone too, but I personally prefer to wait and watch what happens tomorrow. The recent rise could be due to short covering, but nobody can be sure and hence I will wait for some more clarity in the situation.

Long term investors must continue to invest on a monthly basis in bluechips. Do not let the market level determine your investment. If you have decided to invest on a particular every month, then high or low on that particular day, you must invest the amount in a few bluechips for long term.

Starting from today, I will post a small investment tip so that we can all become wise and informed investors.

Starting from this weekend, I will be posting a Personality Development thought.

No great man ever complains of want of opportunity
Therefore, the next time you feel that there is a lack of opportunities in your life, think about your current situation and pin point areas in your field which can be converted into opportunities to learn, improve and succeed.
All the successful people in the world do not complain about the lack of opportunities. They learn to make use of the opportunities that are already available. They see opportunities in the situations they face on a day to day basis. When we can make use of the things that are already available, we become worthy of newer and better opportunities to excel in life.

Sold and waiting for the next opportunity

Dear Friends,

Nifty fell by almost 80 points today due to negative global cues.
As of now, the global cues are negative. The global markets are down between 0.5-2%.

This discipline of maintaining a stop loss for short term trades is very important. No emotions must be attached to investing or trading. The numbers must direct you to take correct decisions.

Now, we have to wait for the next short term opportunity. There is still 1.5 months left in this year. We may see another opportunity to make 10% profits before the end of this year.
Sell all your recent purchases that you have made, if you have not already done so.
As I said yesterday, I had put a stop loss for my M&M and Titan and both of them were sold at the stop loss level. Therefore, I sold M&M at a loss of 2% and Titan at about 1.5% loss.
M&M fell later to much below my selling price and that is why it is always important to set your stop loss and stick by it.
Long term investors do not need to think about the short term fluctuations. They have to invest knowing that their money would have grown by many number of times in the long term. Bluechips are market leaders and they are usually expected to perform well in the long run. Always remember that safety of your investment should be your first priority and only then should you look for good returns. Do not invest in stocks which may be speculative but have high degree of risk of losing your capital.

Also, I have heard and seen hundreds of cases where investors listen to the advice of the broker to buy shares. Please understand that you should instruct the broker on which shares you want to purchase or sale and NOT take advice from him regarding which shares to buy or sell.

Waiting patiently for the next opportunity

Dear Friends,

Currently, there is no opportunity to buy for short term. Keep your money in the bank and wait for the next opportunity.
The previous opportunity did not give us 10% profits. However, this was one of the unfortunate chances. Lets hope we get another chance of 10% profits before the end of this year.

Nifty again down by 38 points today due to weak Asian market cues.
As of now, the global cues are mildly negative with the markets down by about 0.5%.

Many bluechips are trading at very low prices compared to some days and months back. Long term investors must continue to invest on a monthly basis in bluechips. When the markets fall, long term investors must not stop their monthly investments. This is a time for them to accumulate shares at a lower prices and thereby secure a good average purchase price for their shares.

Why XML Schemas

XML Schemas are much more powerful than DTDs.
XML Schemas Support Data Types
One of the greatest strength of XML Schemas is the support for data types.
With support for data types:
It is easier to describe allowable document content
It is easier to validate the correctness of data
It is easier to work with data from a database
It is easier to define data facets (restrictions on data)
It is easier to define data patterns (data formats)
It is easier to convert data between different data types
XML Schemas use XML Syntax
Another great strength about XML Schemas is that they are written in XML.
Some benefits of that XML Schemas are written in XML:
You don't have to learn a new language
You can use your XML editor to edit your Schema files
You can use your XML parser to parse your Schema files
You can manipulate your Schema with the XML DOM
You can transform your Schema with XSLT
XML Schemas Secure Data Communication
When sending data from a sender to a receiver, it is essential that both parts have the same "expectations" about the content.
With XML Schemas, the sender can describe the data in a way that the receiver will understand.
A date like: "03-11-2004" will, in some countries, be interpreted as 3.November and in other countries as 11.March.
However, an XML element with a data type like this:
<date type="date">2004-03-11</date>
ensures a mutual understanding of the content, because the XML data type "date" requires the format "YYYY-MM-DD".
XML Schemas are Extensible
XML Schemas are extensible, because they are written in XML.
With an extensible Schema definition you can:
Reuse your Schema in other Schemas
Create your own data types derived from the standard types
Reference multiple schemas in the same document
Well-Formed is not Enough
A well-formed XML document is a document that conforms to the XML syntax rules, like:
it must begin with the XML declaration
it must have one unique root element
start-tags must have matching end-tags
elements are case sensitive
all elements must be closed
all elements must be properly nested
all attribute values must be quoted
entities must be used for special characters
Even if documents are well-formed they can still contain errors, and those errors can have serious consequences.
Think of the following situation: you order 5 gross of laser printers, instead of 5 laser printers. With XML Schemas, most of these errors can be caught by your validating software.

XML Schema

XML Schema is an XML-based alternative to DTD.
An XML schema describes the structure of an XML document.
The XML Schema language is also referred to as XML Schema Definition (XSD).
What You Should Already Know
Before you continue you should have a basic understanding of the following:
HTML / XHTML
XML and XML Namespaces
A basic understanding of DTD

What is an XML Schema?
The purpose of an XML Schema is to define the legal building blocks of an XML document, just like a DTD.
An XML Schema:
defines elements that can appear in a document
defines attributes that can appear in a document
defines which elements are child elements

defines whether an element is empty or can include text
defines data types for elements and attributes
defines default and fixed values for elements and attributes
XML Schemas are the Successors of DTDs
We think that very soon XML Schemas will be used in most Web applications as a replacement for DTDs. Here are some reasons:
XML Schemas are extensible to future additions
XML Schemas are richer and more powerful than DTDs
XML Schemas are written in XML
XML Schemas support data types
XML Schemas support namespaces
XML Schema is a W3C Recommendation
XML Schema became a W3C Recommendation 02. May 2001.

XML DOM

DOM (Document Object Model) defines a standard way for accessing and manipulating documents.
The XML DOM
The XML DOM defines a standard way for accessing and manipulating XML documents.
The XML DOM views an XML document as a tree-structure.
All elements can be accessed through the DOM tree. Their content (text and attributes) can be modified or deleted, and new elements can be created. The elements, their text, and their attributes are all known as nodes.

The HTML DOM
The HTML DOM defines a standard way for accessing and manipulating HTML documents.
All HTML elements can be accessed through the HTML DOM.

Example
<html>
<body>
<h1>W3Schools Internal Note</h1>
<div>
<b>To:</b> <span id="to"></span><br />

W3C DTD

Introduction to DTD
A Document Type Definition (DTD) defines the legal building blocks of an XML document. It defines the document structure with a list of legal elements and attributes.
A DTD can be declared inline inside an XML document, or as an external reference.
Internal DTD Declaration
If the DTD is declared inside the XML file, it should be wrapped in a DOCTYPE definition with the following syntax:
<!DOCTYPE root-element [element-declarations]>
Example XML document with an internal DTD:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE note [
<!ELEMENT note (to,from,heading,body)>
<!ELEMENT to (#PCDATA)>
<!ELEMENT from (#PCDATA)>
<!ELEMENT heading (#PCDATA)>
<!ELEMENT body (#PCDATA)>
]>
<note>
<to>Tove</to>
<from>Jani</from>
<heading>Reminder</heading>
<body>Don't forget me this weekend</body>
</note>

External DTD Declaration
If the DTD is declared in an external file, it should be wrapped in a DOCTYPE definition with the following syntax:
<!DOCTYPE root-element SYSTEM "filename">
This is the same XML document as above, but with an external DTD (Open it, and select view source):
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE note SYSTEM "note.dtd">
<note>
  <to>Tove</to>
  <from>Jani</from>
  <heading>Reminder</heading>
  <body>Don't forget me this weekend!</body>
</note>
And this is the file "note.dtd" which contains the DTD:
<!ELEMENT note (to,from,heading,body)>
<!ELEMENT to (#PCDATA)>
<!ELEMENT from (#PCDATA)>
<!ELEMENT heading (#PCDATA)>
<!ELEMENT body (#PCDATA)>
Why Use a DTD?
With a DTD, each of your XML files can carry a description of its own format.
With a DTD, independent groups of people can agree to use a standard DTD for interchanging data.
Your application can use a standard DTD to verify that the data you receive from the outside world is valid.
You can also use a DTD to verify your own data.

What is left of 5 crores

The game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC) is an extremely popular game show in India hosted by Amitabh Bachchan. His charishma and mass appeal ensures that people are glued to their TV-sets during the show every week.

Recently, Sushul Kumar an IAS aspirant and school teacher won the grand prize of Rs.5 crores. He currently earns a meagre Rs.6,000 per month salary which is insufficient to lead a comfortable life.

I have seen from my vast experience that whenever there is excess money with a person, certain category of people called “vultures” hover around that person. The main aim of these vultures is to pinch as much money as possible from the naive and uninformed person.

Recently, Sushul Kumar an IAS aspirant and school teacher won the grand prize of Rs.5 crores. He currently earns a meagre Rs.6,000 per month salary which is insufficient to lead a comfortable life.

After meeting lakhs of people from various walks of life in my training programs, I have observed that there are very few people who give un-biased advice to needy investors. Although, not all advisors and consultants have an ulterior motive, many of them do and our bad experience in the past gives us the impression that all of them provide biased and wrong advice. Please understand that a person who has nothing to gain or loss by giving you suggestions regarding money management or other aspects of life is more believable then some person who stands to gain by selling you a product or service.

Whoever you are and whatever you earn, your financial success is dependent on the number of wise decisions you make in your life. Earning crores of rupees but not managing or investing it properly is worse than earning far less but investing and growing it effectively.

I urge you and your near and dear ones to wisely invest your time and money to increase your financial literacy thereby protecting yourselves from the vultures in the real world!

Unfortunately, earning a huge amount is not bundled with gaining “sound financial knowledge.” If Sushil Kumar or anyone of us does not take the efforts to learn and educate ourselves in the subject of financial literacy, we will sooner rather than later end up with unsatisfactory results in life.

The vultures can be insurance advisors selling (rather misspelling insurance policies such as ULIPs), mutual fund advisors approaching the prospective client with the entire list of “best-performing” schemes to invest in and stock brokers claiming to provide the best “tips” for super profits.

Want a Favour

Dear Friend,

On an average about 500-800 people read this blog regularly.
We have no idea how many Bangaloreans are reading this blog regularly.
Also we have no idea of how many out station readers of this blog have friends and relatives in Bangalore.

I want to ask you for a favour. Hope you will oblige me.

I request all blog readers of Bangalore and others who have friends and relatives in Bangalore
to inform their kith and kin of the next seminar on Stocks and Personal Finance in Kannada in Nov 2011. The workshop dates are 19-20 Nov 2011 (sat-sun) from 9am to 7pm at Bell Hotel, near City Railway Station.

To make it easy for your friends to take a decision of joining, we have organised a FREE Introductory Seminar on 9 Nov and 10 Nov ( wed, thur) at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road, Near Chalukya Hotel, Blore at 6 pm. They can attend any of the seminars and decide to join the workshop based on your advice.

What action you can take.

1- Make a list of 50 of your friends.
2-Out of which, select 30 friends who you think would value my workshop the most.
3- Send them an email requesting them to attend the free seminar on 9-10 Nov at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. at 6pm.
4- Send the news of the free seminar to at least 10 of them by sms.
5- Send us an email at successdigest@gmail.com and we will send you the sample text to be sent to your friends.

When to take action- Very urgent- Today or Tomorrow morning.
after that it may be too late.

The reason that I am asking you to send the emails from your email ID is because if I send the emails from my side, the mails are sure to bounce back or go to the junk folder. Whereas from your email ID, the emails sent to your contacts will be delivered without any problems.

Hope you will oblige me.
The whole exercise will take about 10 mins for you.
But that will go a long way for us to propagate the science of safe investment.

Dear Friends,

Today's global cues are slightly negative. Most US and European markets have closed about 0.5% down. The crisis in Greece is affecting global markets thereby influencing Indian Stock markets also.

I am still holding on to my recent purchases. Still waiting for 10% profits in this rally.

Long term investors must continue as per their plan. Do not miss your monthly investments in bluechips.

Keenly watch the markets to see if your stocks give you 10% in the next few days.

All the other purchases you might have made for short term are HOLD. You can hold it hoping for 10% profits or wait for the 5% stop loss if it falls.

As per technical analysis, the following are BUY-
Sterlite Industries & L&T.

Dear colleagues,

Recently, after my buy call for Hindalco & Sterlite, many of us had bought them for short term. Large number of people including the participants of the recent Bahrain Workshop in October were able to make 10% profits in just 1 day!
Effectively, this is the 4th time that we have got 10% profits in this year. There are still two more months in this year and if we are lucky, there might be atleast one more opportunity for 10% profits.

Great rally on Friday and Nifty ended almost 160 points higher.
On Friday, the US and European markets were mixed.

This shows that patience to wait for the right opportunities pays rich rewards.

My M&M is very close to 10% profits and it may give me 10% profits if the markets move a little more higher.

Rob Janoff, designer of the Apple logo
The Newton Crest: 1976-1976

The first Apple logo was designed in 1976 by Ronald Wayne, sometimes referred to as the third co-founder of Apple. The logo depicts Isaac Newton sitting under a tree, an apple dangling precipitously above his head. The phrase on the outside border reads, “Newton… A Mind Forever Voyaging Through Strange Seas of Thought … Alone.”

When Jean Louis Gassée (executive at Apple Computer from 1981 to 1990) was asked about his thoughts to the Apple logo he answered:
One of the deep mysteries to me is our logo, the symbol of lust and knowledge, bitten into, all crossed with the colors of the rainbow in the wrong order. You couldn't dream of a more appropriate logo: lust, knowledge, hope, and anarchy.
There are many theories about this logo and many of them are just that. Find out the truth, read the interview with Rob Janoff, the designer of the original Apple logo, who will tell you all about his design.

Why Java Logo is a Coffee Cup?

Java is an island, not coffee,
Java is a place from where coffee is exported to USA for many years. So in USA sometimes coffee is referred as java and the beans are call java beans.
Sun Microsystems, renamed OAK to 'JAVA' with some changes and launched it in the same year. Developers around the globe immediately found Java's potential and the WWW got its new look and Java took the world by storm
Java is a type of coffee, some ppl say "would u like a cup of Java" so I guess it's coffee, does it matter as long as it works? I don't understand the ? really.
In 1990's they tried to develop a portable application that can run on any micro chip. Not surprisingly, the team chose C++ to accomplish this task. But soon they found that there are many features in C++ that prevented it from being PORTABLE.
This may be the relation between Java and coffee cup
just that they produce coffee and common use has made java another word for coffee.
